Develop Our Talents to Serve HIM!

Music invites the spirit like nothing else!!

President Spencer W. Kimball said: “God has endowed us with talents and time, with latent abilities and with opportunities to use and develop them in his service. He therefore expects much of us, his privileged children” (The Miracle of Forgiveness [1969], 100).

Hello family!

So a few select occurrences from this past week!

So on Thursday we had our district temple trip! This time around, we had the option to attend either Mt. Timpanogos, Provo, or Payson. So we just opted to going to Mt. Timp. Which I was completely fine with by the way. Timp probably my favorite temple in Utah! So this temple trip was unlike any that I've ever experienced
before! It was so great to be in the temple!

On Friday morning we had our Zone Training Meeting! It was really good and we learned a lot! It's kind of nice having a good relationship with your Zone Leaders because that makes things ten time easier. Yeah it was great!

Saturday morning we had a baptism! We are really close to this young man's family. They're all active but because he is autistic, they had held off his baptism until he was older so he would understand it more and so he wouldn't
freak out going under the water. So now is like 10-11 years old. We had been teaching him for quite some time now. Just short powerful messages to help him learn. It was a really good baptismal service! So many people came! Afterwards, there was a yogurt parfait get together after party at their house. Good times!

So speaking of baptism, another one of our investigators had asked to postpone her baptism. Why you might ask? She was talking to her older brother who had been baptized about a year ago and he asked her why she wanted to be baptized. She responded with "I don't know". Being that she hasn't received an answer to her prayers yet. She doesn't know if this is something that she needs to do yet. So the last lesson we had with her yesterday, we talked a lot about prayer and how the Holy Ghost works. And we testified to her that the Lord does answer questions we have if we ask him in faith and truly have a desire to know. I admire her for wanting to know for herself that the gospel of Jesus Christ has been restored in it's fullness with Priesthood authority to baptize her. At this point, it's between her and the Lord now. Hoping for the best!

Yesterday was also the stake conference for the Alpine YSA Stake. They all gathered together in the Alpine Tabernacle in American Fork, UT. Needless to say, they were packed in there like sardines! People coming out the gills there were so many people! It was unreal!

Now...the moment you all have been waiting for! Transfers. So after much anticipation and plenty of prayers regarding staying in the Utah Provo Mission, it turns out that I will be staying in the Pleasant Grove Creek area with Elder Leavitt for another 6 weeks! At this point..I don't really care which mission I'm in, I'm just happy to be
serving. Besides, President told us that no matter where you end up,you'll always still be in the Utah Provo Mission...just another part of it. Will I consider myself a Utah Orem Missionary? Nope. UPM till the day I die! So....don't change anything on my missionary wall or plaque, please. So yeah...at the end of the day, I'll have been in this area 6 months by the time this transfer finishes. At least I'll be able to march in the Provo Parade on 'Murica Day! Good stuff. So yeah...that's kinda it.

Yeah...we're going to go re-hike Kiwanis park up to Battle Creek Falls today just for fun and just because we can. Until next week!

Love you all!

-Elder Ahrens
